RestMarker
Solid brass · engraved to order

A life is longer
than a headstone.

A small brass marker, set into the stone. Anyone who visits can scan it and read who your mother actually was — her photographs, her story, in her family’s own words.

One payment. No subscription, ever. Room for two people on the same stone.

Approximately 2″ square · solid brass

The difference

A stone can hold a name.
It cannot hold a person.

Granite gives you two dates and a dash between them. Everything that actually made someone worth missing — how she laughed, what he built, the thirty years at the same shop, the way she answered the phone — has nowhere to go.

This is where it goes.

How it works

Four steps, and only one of them is ours.

Step One

You pay once

$49.99, and nothing after that. The page is yours for as long as it exists, and we have written down what happens if we ever don’t.

Step Two

You write it

Paste in the obituary, or start from nothing. Add photographs from a phone, a shoebox, or a scanner. Take a week. Take a year. It saves as you go.

Step Three

We check it

Every photograph and every word is reviewed before it can go live. Not to sanitise grief — to make sure nobody uses a grave to settle a score.

Step Four

We engrave and ship

Only once your page is published. The code on the marker is guaranteed to lead somewhere the day it arrives, and to keep leading there.

Two names, one stone

Made for couples who share a marker.

A husband dies in 2019. His wife lives another eleven years. One stone, one marker, one code — and when the time comes, her half of the page is already waiting. You sign in and fill it in. There is nothing more to buy and nothing new to attach to the granite.

We will not sell you a second marker for the same stone. Two pieces of metal on one monument is not what any of this is for.

What we will not publish

Every memorial is read before it goes live.

Honesty is welcome

Real obituaries say hard things. Addiction. Illness. A difficult man. A long estrangement. None of that is a problem here, and we will never ask you to soften it. Grief is allowed to be honest.

Cruelty is not

What we refuse is a page bought to humiliate someone — the dead or the living. A grave marker lasts a very long time, and nobody should be able to make it a permanent insult.

And no video

Photographs and words only. We have deliberately left out anything we could not read in full ourselves before it went on a headstone.

Read the whole policy

Begin when you are ready.

There is no hurry built into this. Many people order the marker months after the funeral, when the casseroles have stopped and the house is quiet and they finally want to say something.

Begin a memorial — $49.99

Includes the brass marker, engraving, shipping within the United States, and the memorial page.
